Alteon Health is a people-powered organization. We invest in our clinicians as individuals and provide every resource you need to build your best career.

Alteon ♥s Residents

As a physician-led organization, we know first-hand that your early years of practice play a critical role in shaping your lifelong career. We also understand the importance of being supported and challenged at each phase along the way; that’s why we offer a number of customizable career paths and a variety of practice environments nationwide. Whether you live to work or work to live, we are flexible enough to adapt to your unique needs and stable enough to support your long-term growth.

Clinical Leadership

Alteon is truly physician-led at every level, including the c-suite. Our CEO, Dr. Steve Holtzclaw, is a practicing emergency medicine physician with over 30 years of clinical experience.

Reporting up to Dr. Holtzclaw are our Divisional Presidents, Regional Medical Directors, and Facility Medical Directors. Our leadership structure is composed of practicing physicians with excellent operational leadership training, including Six Sigma certification.

Mentorship

We believe solid one-on-one mentorship is a key driver of success. Our formal mentorship program pairs newly minted attendings with seasoned physicians who are passionate about providing support, guidance, and encouragement to the next generation of clinicians.

For those looking to take their career to the next level, our Future Medical Director Leadership Academy is a highly interactive course designed to provide critical knowledge and the real-world skills necessary to drive effective clinical leadership.

Right-Sized Organization

The size of our practice offers a distinct value to our physicians.

Alteon is large enough to offer the scale, infrastructure, and resources necessary to provide industry-leading technology, highly competitive compensation, and a stable practice environment. With more than 1,700 clinicians nationwide, our team has the ability to drive change and make a real impact in the clinical landscape.

However – unlike our behemoth competitors – our practice remains small and flexible enough to offer custom career paths and provide the personal attention, accessible leadership, and constant communication one would expect from a local community-based group.

Alteon employs a generous high-end compensation model that includes fair and performance-based salary, benefits, and incentives. We are invested in our team members’ health and wellbeing and offer a full suite of benefits to care for all aspects of your physical, personal, and financial health.

EM Fellowship Program

The demand for emergency physician services will exceed the supply for the foreseeable future, especially in small cities and rural areas. EM residency programs will not overcome the supply deficit. Consequently, alternative pathways for training emergency physicians are needed.

At Alteon we are committed to serving our patients with compassionate, high-value emergency care. To that end, we have established an EM Fellowship Program to train physicians who have completed Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Medicine/Pediatrics, or other residency programs, to provide effective and efficient emergency medical care and to become independent emergency department physicians in community hospitals.

Please visit our Fellowship Program at emfellows.com to learn more about the program and submit an application.
