(Bluefield, W. Va.) July 28, 2016 – As of August 2016, Island Medical Management (IMM) will provide physician management and staffing services to the emergency department of Bluefield Regional Medical Center located in Bluefield, West Virginia.

Bluefield Regional Medical Center (BRMC) is a 92-bed, short term acute care hospital servicing southern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia. The facility’s services include inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, medical, surgical, and emergency care. BRMC is a community health center, as well as a teaching facility with traditional rotating internships for osteopathic medical students.

The emergency department at BRMC hosts 25 beds and a fast track program, serving approximately 31,000 patients each year. The department is proud of their excellent seasoned nursing staff, and their pledge to ensure patients are seen by a medical professional in 30 minutes or less. The ED’s wait time is provided to the public on the Bluefield Regional Medical Center website, where the number is based on a rolling average and updated every 15 minutes.

Upcoming improvements to BRMC should help to make their patient community even healthier, with plans for new critical care and MRI units, renovations to the emergency room and main lobby, and an investment in medical equipment and new physicians.

“IMM is pleased to establish our partnership with Bluefield Regional Medical Center. As we prepare to begin operations in the emergency department, we look forward to working alongside the hospital’s seasoned staff of medical professionals. We are excited to be part of BRMC’s plans for improvement at their facility, and believe IMM will provide an exceptional patient experience to the local community,” says Dr. Donald Brock, DO, FACEP, Regional Medical Director of IMM.
