How long has Alteon Health been in business?

Although our name may be new, Alteon Health has over 50 years of experience providing exceptional patient care.

In 2017, we saw an opportunity to bring together the best in our industry to create an unrivaled network of partners and drive better outcomes for the people we serve.

To deliver on this opportunity, we brought together two leaders in our industry—Emergency Medicine Associates (EMA) and Island Medical Management (IMM).

EMA, a physician-owned practice, has been a leader in emergency medical services since 1971, serving one million patients annually across Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.

IMM, also a physician-owned organization providing services in emergency medicine and hospitalist medicine, has over 20 years of experience in medical management and touches two million patients each year through its 80+ programs.

Together, Alteon is advancing towards better outcomes with a people-powered approach—and we’ve only just begun.

Does Alteon Health have experience in clinical documentation integrity ("CDI")?

Our CDI program leverages national experts in documentation and coding to help our clinicians to minimize risk, improve clinical communication and support appropriate coding. In a world of increasing focus on performance metrics, public reporting and value-based reimbursement this helps our team let the chart work for them.

With persistent litigation risk, EMR workflow drag and guideline adherence demands, we bring Evidence-Based Medicine, Process Improvement and EMR experts to bear on keeping our sites great places to work.

Does Alteon Health utilize advanced practice providers?

Alteon has a philosophy of providing cost effective, compassionate patient care of the highest quality; embedded into the fabric of this care is the proper utilization of advanced practice providers (APPs). Our APPs can work in a variety of settings and are involved in vital departmental functions such as patient callbacks, data review, and community outreach.

We adhere to all state supervision and licensing requirements, but also make it a unique priority to investigate the local culture of each hospital regarding APP involvement. This is accomplished through discussions with your hospital staff and administration, and we carefully adhere to these standards as well.

In addition, we provide proper oversight, onboarding and continuing professional development to all our APPs to ensure that care and service are both at their peak.
