(THE WOODLANDS, Texas) – Emergency Medicine Associates (EMA) and Island Medical Management (IMM) have partnered to form Alteon Health, while continuing to provide the highest quality medical services to more than 3 million patients annually at 125 hospitals and other care settings across 16 states and the District of Columbia.

“We couldn’t be more excited for our family of clinicians and the communities they serve,” said Alteon Health CEO Brock Hardaway. “The passion, capabilities and dedication to quality patient-centered care that have aligned all our clinicians as healthcare leaders for decades will be enhanced as they draw upon resources, expertise and best practices from one another.”

EMA and IMM are physician led management and staffing leaders in emergency and urgent care, hospital medicine, critical care, pediatrics, neonatology, nursing and services at partner hospitals in different regions of the country.

“Our new name will create a sense of shared purpose, community and family in a way that allows our clinicians to keep their operational identity,” Hardaway said. “Each of our 125 clinical teams knows best how to meet the unique needs of the communities and hospitals they serve. They will continue to do that with more resources, support, and professional development opportunities at their fingertips than ever before. We understand that our hospital partners and clinicians are facing escalating challenges in today’s complex marketplace. Through our investment in the thoughtful application of data and analytics, and understanding the importance clinical integration, sound financial management, and enhanced patient care, we plan to be a value add partner for the long term.”

Founded in 1971, EMA is the largest provider of emergency services in the Mid-Atlantic, serving nearly 1 million patients annually across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. In the last 20 years, IMM has partnered with Pegasus Emergency Group, 4M Emergency, Aguirre Healthcare, Inpatient Medical Services, Advanced Healthcare Associates and SMART Physician Recruiting to provide medical management and treatment to nearly 2 million patients each year through more than 80 programs in 13 states.

“Alteon Health’s core values evolved from the absolute best our family of clinicians has to offer, and commits us to setting a higher standard in healthcare,” Hardaway said. “We have an outstanding leadership team in place to assist our clinicians in delivering the best patient outcomes possible. I am confident our patients and partners will know that when they hear our name.”
